167. When You're Brought to The End of Yourself

Do you like to have control over everything?

We all want to have some level of control over our lives, but sometimes it’s when we reach the end of ourselves that we can truly experience the fullness of God’s goodness & redemptive power. We grasp for control as we struggle through situations, and it’s often when we hit rock bottom and there is nowhere else to turn that we finally loosen our grip and hand it over to God.

If this sounds like you, it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you, it means you’re human. We live in a fallen world, and there will be troubles this side of Heaven. Everyone has their own battles.. Yours might be financial or marital.. It could be an addiction or a diagnosis. Whatever the struggle - you are not alone.

Being brought to the end of yourself brings you to the feet of Jesus. The good news is that as Christians, we know how the story ends. We know that no matter how hopeless things may seem - our King will be victorious, and the day is coming when He will come back for His people and wipe away every tear.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
