144. Church, Arise! - with Brannon Marshall - Heart Behind the MM
This episode is part of a series we are doing for a collaboration collection with Reignn Outfitters, a local clothing company whose mission is to use their clothing as conversation starters to talk about what's most important, Jesus. Every single product they have has a story and mission behind it, and that so much mirrors our hearts and the mission of this very podcast.
If you’ve been here a while, you know that we have been on a journey to find God’s purpose for our lives and are attempting to break the stigma of Millennials and rise to God’s will for our lives. And that was the focal point of the shirts we’re sharing about for today’s episode.
In today’s episode, we have our pastor, Brannon Marshall, as a guest, and he helps us pick apart Ezra 10:4 - the verse that motivated the message of these shirts. Brannon helps to lay out the context and message behind the verse and how to apply it in our world today.
“Arise for it is your task, and we are with you. Be strong and do it.” (Ezra 10:4)
History tends to repeat itself…and cultures tend to reinvent themselves where we see values being reexamined and shifting. When the world forgets about values that matter, how do Christians respond? Separatism - Should we buy 40 acres and run for the hills? Syncretism - Should we just blend in because we are tired of fighting? Neither of those options is what God wants for us. We have to engage our culture in the messy middle for the glory of God. And that’s what we see Ezra recognizing in this passage and what we Believers today are spurred on and encouraged to do by studying it and applying it.
We hope you are blessed by this episode and encouraged to join us to rise up and live mission-minded.
